Lastovjak Gaya "Bathing"
100x70x9, own technique, 2021
The artist creates three-dimensional paintings with her own technique using paper-mache, canvas and oil paint. The main character of the artist's works is a man. He is shown reduced and reduced to an elementary form, as if stripped of his civilization attributes like clothing or objects, and finally all the shell and game of appearances behind which each of us hides. The figures in her paintings are static, even stiff, as if frozen in specific poses, thus showing the specific social problem of loneliness, limitation, pressure or anonymity. Departing from the traditional range of colors in favor of white, she allows light and shadow to be perfectly accentuated. Everything seems to be saturated with symbolic content, the author entrusts the artistic matter with her thoughts and imprints her own feelings on it. The author has participated in many collective and individual exhibitions, and her works are popular both in Poland and abroad. Recently, she has been recognized among the collectors of Saatchi gallery and has established cooperation with Milan's Monshareart gallery and Vienna's Polskajungart."
