Smolik Maga "Za_Duma"
120x80, acrylic on canvas, 2018
Born in Wroclaw, psychologist, educator, manager, painter by heart, passion and love. Among other things, she graduated from the W. Strzeminski Academy of Fine Arts in Lodz, studying painting and drawing, in the studio of Prof. Andrzej Grenda and Prof. Witold Kalinski. Currently, she is co-founder of the "Direction" art group.
Her work, sometimes lyrical and harmonious, however, is always full of conscious discussion, narration on current social trends, cultural taboos. Her keen observation of the surrounding world leads her towards symbolic dialogues with her audience, during which she likes to reject the obvious in favor of understatements, mysteries. She relies on contrasts and does not shy away from anything inherent in human nature. Therefore, she consciously juxtaposes the aesthetics of perception with what is uncertain, unclear and even borderless in man.
The artist believes that art should be for people, for usually unusual people. Simple in message, but leaving space for imagination. She has had many solo and group exhibitions and her works are in many private collections at home and abroad.
