Ryszard Grodnicki "Stripes of Red"

Born in 1947 in Gdansk, Poland. He holds a doctorate in art, taught for many years at the Faculty of Architecture of the Gdansk University of Technology, is a painter and a member of the Association of Polish Artists.
In his many years of artistic work he was also involved in film and photography, but after graduating from the university he decided to remain faithful to painting, because, as he says, "Already then I came to the conclusion that the greatest creative independence, however, gives painting."
Although he tried all painting techniques, his favorite is acrylic. "I noticed that acrylic has its own 'channel' that can be developed. I have grown fond of this technique, although until now I have painted with oils. I watched how new colors are created. I steered towards different tones and tried to develop this more. This is, of course, completely the formal side of my painting. The subconscious always comes out. When one paints intuitively, it starts to come out what lies sometimes very deep in the subconscious."
He has participated in many national and international exhibitions including Studio Mac Mahogany- Paris, France; Scorpion- galleries , Hamburg, Germany; International Biennale of Graphics, Cracow ; XXXI Festival of Fine Arts "Presentations" Sopot; Salon d'hiver, Lyon, France; Annexe Mairei du 5 Sant Jean, France; Spring Salon (SBI), Societe Lyonaise des Beaux Arts, France; Painting Exhibition, Hamburg.
About his plans, he says: "I intend to develop in two directions. I'm doing a project where I'm introducing color into the space, where the installation is just going to work very strongly with color. For me, this is like a return to the past, that is, a reference to my beginnings of spatial compositions. The second direction is the search for color combinations that are seemingly not supposed to match the composition of the painting. They are supposed to introduce some different controversial emotions."
