Jaroslaw Jaśnikowski has been painting since 1991. Jaśnikowski's first works were in the science-fiction art trend. At the end of the 1990s, he begins to be interested in surrealism. Initially influenced by both these trends, he seeks his individual style. Over time, his style crystallizes and acquires characteristics of the steampunk trend. During this time, references to technique - characteristic today - increasingly appear in his paintings. The world created by Jaroslaw Jasnikowski is filled with flying machines, powerful machines, clock mechanisms and even architecture - especially Gothic architecture. The power of the artist's imagination is fascinating, and his attention to detail and meticulous depiction of his surreal machines, worlds and characters is something that sets him apart. The artist himself calls himself a Story-painter - telling viewers about the world he has created, which has been dissected into countless "islands levitating in boundless space." Yasnikovsky's worlds are not subject to the rules of our reality.
"My painting is like a constant journey, through undiscovered worlds. However, instead of a camera, I take paints, brushes and canvases into it and paint pictures, or, as one prefers, insert windows. Thanks to these windows, other people, can move there for a moment, to the Alternative Worlds of our imaginations."
He is a respected and well-known artist. He is also the best known, Polish steampunk artist in Polish painting. He has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions. His works are in collections around the world.
