Tomasz Kuran
Born in 1972 in Warsaw, Poland. Graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts - Faculty of Conservation and Restoration of Works of Art. Diploma in the Department of Conservation and Restoration of Painting and Polychrome Sculpture under the direction of Prof. Joanna Szpor. He also studied painting in the studio of Prof. Rajmund Ziemski - painting annex to the diploma "head study".
He is a versatile artist, perfectly comfortable in the field of drawing, painting, collage. The protagonists of his works are usually abstractly treated figures, planes which he sets in various types of landscapes, motifs or color dynamics. Above all, the most important thing for him is color, the dynamics of the image and the action of spots or textures. To achieve this, he often goes beyond the classical framework of the painting by combining different techniques, aiming to make the painting as interesting and creative as possible, giving the viewer the possibility of individual interpretation. His painting is mainly a tangle of emotions more or less filled with feeling, sometimes a game of unspecified characters captured in the moment. He does not create in one style, which is characteristic of many contemporary artists, but walks along different, very individual paths - a painting is supposed to be interesting, inspiring, moving - hence his works include landscapes, abstractions, graphics, monochrome paintings, and he is no stranger to such activities as splashing, gluing, cutting out or scratching. He is an artist whose works are not always easy to accept. His great interest in the Bible and the subject of faith led him to the path of biblical inspiration, where he very interestingly combines the biblical theme with contemporary techniques or the liveliness so characteristic of contemporary painting. His paintings on faith are fantastically inscribed in our daily life and our choices, decisions,. This painting is a rare combination of modernity and religious themes in our Polish art, which makes his paintings very interesting, original and makes us think and talk.
He collaborates with Bellotto gallery, ARTtu gallery, Cavaletto gallery, Art for Art gallery, Project 101 gallery, DESA auction house, NeXt gallery, XANDAU gallery. He had an individual exhibition of paintings at the State Art Gallery in Plock entitled" Moments emotions feelings", an exhibition at the "Bell Tower" gallery entitled. "Saints differently" in Warsaw, exhibitions in Vienna entitled "Emotions in the landscape". vernissage at the Pin-up cafe - "Moments from life", an exhibition entitled. "Greenland is not black and white" organized by the gallery of contemporary art Project 101, participation in the Plock festival entitled "Aurora Festival". Since one year he became interested in biblical themes and realized the vernissage at the NEXT gallery in Bydgoszcz - "From the Bible and from the imagination", the vernissage in Luban at the municipal gallery also entitled "From the Bible and fromthe imagination" and the closing vernissage of the biblical cycle under the same title at the Służewiec House of Culture in Warsaw. His works are in Polish and foreign collections.
